Grow Grain in Your Garden

Along with our household recycling, we’ve been making an effort to avoid bringing home unnecessary bags and packaging. It’s surprising how much you can reduce just by not taking it home with you in the first place. But one of the more annoying sources of ‘stuff you don’t need’ shows up unbidden at our front door.
Many of my neighbours have in-ground sprinklers that automatically go on at a certain time of day or evening. They are considerate of local watering by-laws, but their systems haven’t got a clue if it’s raining, so we often see the sprinklers going when it’s pouring.
