All Night Star Gazing.

Aldergrove Bowl is a great venue for watching the summer’s best meteor shower, the Perseids.

This annual celestial event is expected to peak between 2 and 4 am when you may see up to 50 meteors per hour. Take a guided constellation walk, and hear tales of the mythic Greek hero Perseus.

Participants must arrive before 11 pm, but can leave at any time.

Bring a flashlight, tent, warm clothing, snacks and blanket to help you enjoy the celestial show above.

$2/person. Registration not required.

Date: August 11, 2010
Time: arrive by 11:00 pm – end time is at your discretion

Location: Aldergrove Lake Regional Park. Meet at the Aldergrove Bowl entrance to the park on Lefeuvre Road, Abbotsford.

Fraser River Stories

Listen to colourful stories of the Fraser River’s past as you tour it and the sheltered Deas Slough.

remnants of a historical sunken rumrunner and travel along a once abundant salmon run.

Learn about local features, paddle by farmland, fishing boats and rich estuary wetlands, and view eagle nests, herons and bog orchids.

Please bring life jackets for children under 23 kg.

Take a bus ride to a limited access area and enjoy sights and sounds of the Seymour River, pockets of old growth forest, salmon habitat and the Seymour Falls Dam.

Learn about where your water comes from, the new Seymour Capilano Filtration Plant and the water demands from a growing population.

This is a 1 km walk on rough, unsurfaced trails. $7.50/adult, $4/senior

Search for sea life on a beach walk, play a seashore game, see sub tidal creatures at the pool on the wharf, and make an ocean craft to take home.

Plan an hour or more to complete all activities and expect to get muddy.

Help set a world record; last year 489 participated and this year we want more.

Registration starts at 9am, and all naked participants must be in the water by noon to be counted.

This will be verified for Guinness World Records.
