May 21 | Victoria Day Cookie Decorating

Come and celebrate the Victoria Day weekend and decorate cookies in honour of the Queen and Canada.

This fun, interactive class will have cookies in all sorts of festive shapes and sizes to serve as a palate for your masterpiece creations.

Please remember to bring a container so you can take your cookies home.

Adult participation not required. A valid Kerrisdale Community Centre membership is required.

May 14 | Nests, Wings and Things: Animal Adaptation

Get an introduction to local wildlife and learn how each animal is adapted to its habitat.

See examples of animal adaptations from the wild and a local wildlife rehabilitator, then have some hands-on experience with a variety of animal skulls, bird wings, and bird nests to investigate the adaptations of different birds and mammals.

May 23 | Cemetery Walking Tour

Join us on a new series of walking tours of Mountain View Cemetery that will explore its rich history and culture.  Mountain View Cemetery opened in 1886 and had its first burial in 1887.

Since then, Mountain View Cemetery has become the final resting place of almost 150,000 people.  Each of them with at least one interesting story…

Tours are lead by Lorraine Irving and John Atkin.

John Atkin – Come Meet the Masons – a look at some prominent burials in the Masonic Section
Lorraine Irving – Remember Me as You Pass By- A tour of the 1919 addition which includes Janet Smith and Joe Fortes.
