Farm Folk 15th Annual best-food-event-of-the-year fundraiser will be held at UBC Farm this year -  Sunday, September 13th, 2009 from 1pm to 5pm

Feast of Fields - a gourmet wandering picnic harvest festival – is FarmFolk/CityFolk’s annual fundraising event. With a wine glass and linen napkin in hand, you can taste the very best of BC from chefs, vintners, brewers, farmers, and food artisans from across the province. Connections are made between producers and chefs, food producers and consumers, and farm folks and city folks. These connections provide an increased awareness of and appreciation for local food and agriculture. Feast of Fields is a gastronomic journey towards a sustainable, local food system.

One of the criticism of causes like sustainability and environmentalism is that it’s too preachy and serious.

No Fun.

The gang at YERT prove otherwise.

YERT stands for Your Environmental Road Trip, and while it may seem counter-intuitive, they’ve been driving (yes, a car) all over the USA to try to raise awareness about sustainability. The car, by the way, was a hybrid.

They’ve hit all 50 states and have been making videos along the way.

Their web site is fun and refreshingly un-serious. Mark Dixon from YERT emailed to ask if we’d mention their YouTube video Earth Hour: Feel DePower, regarding EarthDay coming this Saturday 28 March at 8:30.

The video is also a good invite for you to get involved with Earth Hour.

It’s easy.

And it’s fun.

Get your Easter hopping with our popular Easter Egg Hunt.

There will be a gym full of Easter activities! The Egg Hunt will take place outdoors (weather-permitting) otherwise, it will occur indoors.

Please pre-register. Drop-ins accepted, space permitting. (Additional $1 for drop-ins on day of the event.)

Bring your children, ages 2-8 years to Trout Lake Community Centre’s EASTER EGGSTRAVAGANZA.

An Easter Egg hunt, cookie decorating, Easter crafts, games and entertainment are all part of this fun filled afternoon for children aged 2-8 years.

Please note that all children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited for this event so please purchase tickets in advance as this event always sells out prior to the day.
