More Ways to Measure Your Electricity Usage
January 19, 2009 · Print This Article

I blogged a while ago about a Black and Decker device to measure your household electricity usage.
Now there’s a tool from a different manufacturer that lets you measure the power usage of any individual electrical appliance.
You just plug it in and go.
It’s called the Kill a Watt
…electronic measuring device which determines the energy consumption for basically any appliance that plugs into a standard wall socket. The list includes refrigerators and other kitchen appliances, computers, monitors, printers, scanners, speakers, phones, cell phone chargers, fans, desk lamps, space heaters, air-conditioners, TV’s, DVDs, VCRs, satellites, cable boxes, stereos, etc. to a maximum of 1875 watts
Connect your electrical appliance to the Kill A WattTM and it will assess how efficient it really is. Calculate your electrical expenses by day, week, month or year.
It’s pretty reasonably priced at 29.95 CDN. Order in Canada from here. The US site is here.
I haven’t used one myself so I can’t vouch for it, but jump on and comment if you’ve got one or used one – your review is more than welcome.
